Saturday Drum Circle & Inclusive Basketball League
Dates: Saturdays, January 31st – March 28th, 2026 No Classes on February 7th and March 7th

Start your weekends with rhythm, movement, and community connection! Our Saturday Drum Circle & Inclusive Basketball League offers a full morning of creative expression, physical activity, and team-building designed specifically for neurodivergent youth. Participants will enjoy music-making, skill development, and league-style gameplay in a safe, structured, and welcoming environment.
Schedule:
10:00 – 11:00 AM: Drum Circle
Led by an experienced facilitator, this hour introduces participants to rhythm, percussion, and collaborative music-making.
Activities include:
- Guided drumming exercises
- Call-and-response patterns
- Group rhythm games
- Opportunities for self-expression and sensory exploration
The drum circle promotes communication, confidence, creativity, and regulation through music.
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Basketball Practice
This session focuses on inclusive basketball instruction tailored to all skill levels.
Participants will build:
- Fundamental skills (dribbling, passing, shooting)
- Teamwork & communication
- Coordination & confidence
- Game readiness for the league hour
Activities are adapted to support diverse learning styles, sensory needs, and motor abilities.
12:00 – 1:00 PM: Basketball League Games
Players take the court for weekly league games that reinforce sportsmanship, teamwork, and skill development.
What’s included:
- Team assignments and structured gameplay
- Weekly officiated or coach-supported games
- League jerseys for all participants
- End-of-season awards banquet, combined with the Flag Football Banquet at a later date
This league is designed for encouragement, confidence, and fun—every athlete is supported and celebrated.
Additional Program Information:
- Participants may attend one, two, or all three hours
- Aides and support staff are welcome
- Designed specifically for neurodivergent youth, including individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and other developmental differences

Session 2 Tuesday Basketball & Fine Motor Lab (Under 18)
Ages: 5 - 18
Dates: Tuesday, March 17th- May 12th, NO CLASSES: March 31st
Time: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Location: Salvation Army, Long Beach (3000 Long Beach Blvd, Long Beach, CA 90807)
Join us for an engaging 9-week program designed to promote creativity, physical activity, confidence, and social connection in neurodivergent youth! Our Tuesday Basketball & Arts & Crafts Program provides a structured, welcoming environment where participants can explore both athletic and artistic skills with support from trained staff and a CSUDH intern pursuing a degree in Community Health.
Schedule:
5:00-6:00: Basketball
This session provides fundamental basketball instruction through inclusive drills, skill-building activities, and modified games suitable for all experience levels. Participants will develop coordination, teamwork, communication, and confidence while staying active in a supportive environment. All activities are adapted to meet diverse learning styles, comfort levels, and motor abilities.
6:00–7:00 PM: Fine Motor Lab
Facilitated by a CSUDH Community Health intern, this hour transitions participants from the court into a structured, basketball-themed creative lab designed to strengthen fine motor skills, focus, and self-expression. Each week includes hands-on projects such as team banner design, mini basketball builds, jersey art, and skill-based crafting activities that reinforce coordination and creativity. In a calm and supportive setting, participants will build confidence through guided tasks and sensory-friendly exploration, with a final-day showcase celebrating their work.
Addtional Program Information:
- Participants may attend either the basketball session, the arts & crafts session, or both hours.
- Please provide an aide if one is required for your participant.
- This program is specifically designed for neurodivergent youth, including individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, learning differences, and other developmental needs.
- Our staff are trained to adapt activities to ensure a supportive, safe, and inclusive experience for every participant.

Time: 10:00 AM – 12:45 PM

Kick off your weekend with movement, mindfulness, and skill-building! Our Saturday Fitness / Yoga & Inclusive Basketball program combines whole-body wellness with structured basketball training in a supportive and inclusive environment designed specifically for neurodivergent youth. Participants will begin the morning with guided fitness or yoga activities that support flexibility, coordination, and emotional regulation, followed by focused basketball practice to develop athletic skills, teamwork, and confidence on the court.
This program promotes physical health, social connection, and positive self-expression through structured activities led by experienced coaches and facilitators.
Schedule:
10:00 – 11:15 AM: Fitness or Yoga
Participants will begin the morning with guided movement activities designed to build strength, flexibility, coordination, and body awareness.
Activities may include:
• Stretching and warm-up exercises
• Yoga flows focused on balance and regulation
• Movement games and functional fitness activities
• Breathing and mindfulness techniques
These activities help participants prepare their bodies for physical activity while supporting focus, regulation, and overall wellness.
Parent Support Group:
Once per month, parents are invited to participate in a facilitated support group from 10:10 – 11:00 AM during this time.
Meeting Dates:
• April 11th
• May 9th
11:15 – 11:30 AM: Break
Participants will have time to rest, hydrate, and transition before basketball practice begins.
11:30 AM – 12:45 PM: Basketball Practice
