5-Eleven Hoops

Join us for an engaging 9-week program designed to promote creativity, physical activity, confidence, and social connection in neurodivergent youth! Our Tuesday Basketball & Hoops Innovation Lab Program provides a structured, welcoming environment where participants can explore both athletic and STEM-based learning with support from trained staff and Coach A, who is currently pursuing a degree in engineering.

Schedule:

5:00-6:00 PM: Basketball

This session provides fundamental basketball instruction through inclusive drills, skill-building activities, and modified games suitable for all experience levels. Participants will develop coordination, teamwork, communication, and confidence while staying active in a supportive environment. All activities are adapted to meet diverse learning styles, comfort levels, and motor abilities.

6:00–7:00 PM: Hoops Innovation Lab

Facilitated by Coach Anahi, an aspiring engineer with a passion for STEM education and adaptive learning, this hour transitions participants from the court into an interactive basketball-themed STEM lab focused on creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and hands-on learning. Participants will engage in exciting weekly activities such as basketball ramp engineering challenges, reaction-time experiments, scoreboard design, mini hoop construction, basketball trajectory testing, sports science activities, and team-based invention projects. Through guided exploration in a calm and supportive setting, participants will strengthen critical thinking, communication, and fine motor skills while discovering the science, technology, engineering, and math behind the game of basketball.

Additional Program Information:

Participants may attend either the basketball session, the STEM session, or both hours.

Please provide an aide if one is required for your participant.This program is specifically designed for neurodivergent youth, including individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, learning differences, and other developmental needs.

Our staff are trained to adapt activities to ensure a supportive, safe, and inclusive experience for every participant.
